Hey I am looking at possibly moving here. I currently live in Nottingham but I am a Manchester girl and I have seen a property on homeswapper. Just wanted to know how everyone felt about the property and area. I am moving "blind" as it were...ie. I just want a new start in a new city so any and all comments appreciated :)

Hi Viv.  I moved to this area when I was in my early 20s (from Merseyside).  I moved away for a while but back again now, and the area has transformed over the last decade or so I'd say and there are now so many things to do in the evening and weekends, lots of shops and restaurants etc. nearby - none of that was here when I moved in, the city closed at about 8pm in the evening and was pretty dead at weekends!  That said, this was and is a great place to live.  It's so central, close to trendy Shoreditch/Clerkenwell but also to the West End - shops, restaurants, theatres, cinema, parks, museums, galleries, plus most of those on your doorstep too.  You can walk there in half an hour, and the transport links are great - two stops on the tube to St Pancras on you're on your way to Paris, Brussels, etc.  The estate itself is small enough to be friendly and most of us who live here really care about it and its architectural heritage.  I don't know how well you know London or if you have any friends here already, but I can recommend it.  London really is an international city and there is always something going on.  I'm sure others on here would recommend living here too.

Best wishes, Jean.

Hi there Jean, thanks for reply. It made me smile so much as it was so positive. I love London, being from Manchester I am used to a busy city full of museums and great architecture. Been down a few times in the past so I know how wonderfully close the estate is to everything. I am hopeful to hear back from others too. Can not confirm when/if this swap will go ahead but multiple fingers crossed :) x

Viv, it`s wonderful here!  I moved to GL nearly two and a half years ago, and have not regretted a single minute.  Lovely people here as well.......good luck!
