Is there anyone in Golden Lane undertaking a kitchen restoration project?
I have TWO ORIGINAL stainless sinks - round 'conical' bowl with a lip that fitted underneath the teak work top.
These sinks were rescued in the 1980's from Golden Lane when I was resident there and I am offering each of them for sale. Please contact me for details. theshift@mypostoffice.co.uk
As for provenance, My partner, Mr Paul Taylor lived at Golden Lane from 1957 to 1989, at different addresses: 26 Hatfield, 44 Hatfield, 43 Basterfield. His parents still live at Hatfield house also and can verify this if thought necessary. Given G.L. listed status it is important to add that the sinks were never removed from these addresses. Whilst a resident, Paul a passionate modern architecture devotee rescued these actual sinks from the refuse from others kitchen refits left in the car park.
May I suggest that you post your blog again in mid-January and also, leave a poster at the estate office for those who are not members of the web site, as this is the latest estimation for commencing of the decent homes scheme. As there are several flats on our wonderful estate that will be having refurbishments in the kitchens and bathrooms, I am sure that there will be several of these sinks coming out of the smaller blocks, although this will probably require a little negotiation with the contractors who have won the contract. Personally, I will be sorry to see them go!
