Event Description

REBECCA CLARKE Sonata for viola and piano

Lander Echevarria viola
Rachel Leach
presenter

Want to find out more about classical music, see world-class performers up-close for free, and liven up your lunchbreak?

Come along to one of our informal, 45-minute concerts at LSO St Luke’s, with performances by musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra and Guildhall School.

This term, as we mark 100 years of female suffrage in the UK, we celebrate some of the pioneering women in classical music over the last century – from figures like Ethel Smyth, who campaigned for the vote, equal rights and recognition a hundred years ago, to Judith Weir, one of the leading composers of today.

This concert is celebration of Rebecca Clarke, a composer, viola-player and one of the first musicians to perform in a professional orchestra, featuring her Viola Sonata with LSO violist Lander Echevarria. Our presenter Rachel Leach talks about the works and the instruments, and there are opportunities to ask questions of Rachel and the musicians.

Each concert begins at 12.30pm and lasts for 45 minutes. The Café is open for light refreshments before the concert from 11.30am and after the concert until 2pm.

To avoid disappointment please arrive in good time to get a seat, as these concerts are popular!

Tickets: free entry, just turn up!
