I have had the wheels of my bike stolen from inside the locked bike storage at Bayer House. These are relatively new and not cheap to replace. I had the frame double-locked, but -- as it's an area for residents of the block we live in -- I did not believe it was necessary to lock both wheels in addition.

Quite apart from the personal/financial inconvenience, I'm shocked and extremely disappointed, distressed that this has taken place, as the space is only accessible by fob and key. So it's either someone who lives on the estate, in Bayer or Stanley Cohen, or someone who has been let in by someone who lives in one of these blocks. It's clear to me that it was also planned and targeted, as whomever was involved would have had to know what was already in the storage area in order to go to the effort. Obviously this kind of crime is not something that I or anyone else on the estate should expect, and leaves me feeling both angry and uncomfortable about how this happened and who is responsible. Another option, of course, is that someone (who knew about the bike store) was let in unintentionally, in which case we should all be more aware that this is the possible outcome of being lax with access to buildings on the estate. Please don't buzz in people that you don't know.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience; or if anyone might have seen anything untoward in the area recently. This would have taken place over the last few weeks. I will speak to the Estate Office about any possibility of improving security in the locked storage areas, and on the estate in general, so any further suggestions, advice or concerns from fellow residents would be very welcome.

Best,

Emily and Brian
