I have signed up with the Alzheimer's Society to become a Dementia Champion. My training is on the 15th July. After that I will seek to deliver their short Dementia Friends awareness session to as many groups and individuals as I can.

If you would like to attend such a session please let me know.

Hi Christine.  Good for you.

My partner John was diagnosed with the onset of this last year.  It is heartbreaking to see sometimes how he is not the person  he was, but we cope as best we can.  What makes me so angry, and, I hope you don't mind me saying so, is the cruel way the COL are treating me, his carer,  by ignoring the fact that I am unwell in my own right, despite medical evidence, and not addressing, or acknowledging  my need for a 'support' dog, which I won the right to in a court case about 18 years ago.  John and I are on our own, apart from my elderly Mum, who is amazing.  As most people know, caring for a person with dementia is hard, especially if the carer has health issues too.  I am on virtually maximum medication for a psychological illness, which the COL are aware of.  Yet, I get no support, particularly from the Estate management.

You say you are receiving training.  Well done for having the compassion to do so.  I respect you.
