It's 23:33hrs and the police are here trying to get people to leave the bar below the Community Centre.

The police have visited the estate a number of time this evening because of the anti-social behaviour that has been going on since 19:00hrs: shouting, screaming and men peeing on cars outside the entrance to the Community Centre .

All in all a stressful night.

That's the 'standard' reply I got too.  I would like to know what 'concerned parties' is meant, and why such a situation was allowed to happen in the first place.  Will be in touch with the rest of the Committee and report back as soon as possible.

On bookings, Yes, I was told be the Estate Office:

apart from one commitment this Saturday which has been reviewed in light of what happened, evening bookings in general are being put on hold for the immediate future at least

Christine: Did you take part in the consultation on the future of the Community Centre the other month? It was quite thought-provoking in terms of possible future uses and models of running. I haven't had any follow-up on that, and sense that being proactive is necessary.

I've been quite inspired by the growth of St Luke's Community Centre and, while our Community Centre differs in many ways (not least in not having land to sell to fund development), I'm sure there's much to be learned from its success.

How WRONG you are Tim!

The Community Centre Bar is used by LOTS of people on this Estate - most weeknights GLE residents like myself are a large and clear majority of users!     We might not mouth off all the time like the wannabe wealthy leaseholders who think they have bought a bit of the BARBICAN on the cheap when in fact they live on a council Estate but we live here too (and have done for longer than most leaseholders).   The Club was here when you bought your leases - so live with it eh!

It was truly awful last Sunday evening: dreadful noise until 3am, men urinating around Bayer House and damage to my 'garden' form presumably, people 'sitting' on the seats below. My neighbours who leave very early for work, were kept up all night. 'It won't happen again' they keep saying, the point is why was it allowed to happen in the first place? Disgraceful. Essentially we have a pub on a housing estate which no one here uses. I thought it was a community centre.

Spoke to a nice police inspector just now, re the party in the club....I can't say what we said but, needless to say, who ever took the booking for this event should be held responsible!!!
WRONG - the Community Centre was actually closed at 11.30pm. It was the responsibility of the useless, part-time Keystone Cops(sorry - City of London Police) to remove those causing a public disturbance especially when it is on PRIVATE PROPERTY.   Unfortunately people join the CoL Police (in preference to a real police force) so that they can work 9-5 Mon-Fri and won't have to deal with anything more dramatic than putting a pis**d-up City Boy on the train home when they do their "once-a-month late shift.

So carry on talking to "your important friends" in the Police mate (though you can't tell us what was said) - just remember they are only Toytown Coppers who need the help of a real police force when ther's any trouble.........

Ill have you know its a Grade 2 listed council estate, and why one block is even Grade 2 * listed.

Hi Alan,

I am sorry to correct you but what you are saying is not true. As I saw with my own eyes the Community Centre was far from closed at 11.30pm. At 00:27 the doors of the Centre were wide open and there was people going in and out making noise, If the Community Centre has a bar and want people having drinks they should at least behave like a proper bar and make sure everyone is out by 11:30pm and close their doors which did not happen that Saturday.

About the CoL Police I agree with you, their response to the incident was regrettable at least. They did not take any actions with the offenders and let them stay in the Estate disturbing their residents until far too late.
