For those interested, I spoke to BT this morning.  Superfast broadband is now available on Golden Lane.   There are two packages.  Infinity 1 costs £18-00 pm plus a one off fee of £49-00 for a new router, with £7-95 added for delivery.

Infinity 2 costs £32-50 per month, with a free router but you pay for delivery of it at £7-95.

I have just renewed my contract with BT and will be switching over to superfast next week. I will report back on here how it is.

Due you upgrade to the faster, more expensive package?
That's the slightly cheaper package, but as you say, it's a lot faster than what we can currently get. Good luck!

I didn't know there were two packages but just checked and I am getting Infinity 1. That is all they offered me when I rang them but should still be a way lot faster then what I have now.

Yes, I currently get around 15 mb download speed. Should be a big difference!

I think Infinity 2 is more for larger households where there are a number of people using various devices. For the majority of GLE I am sure Infinity 1 would be suitable. My current speed is about 15 mb/s and they have told me I should now be able to get 35-40 mb/s which is a vast improvement.

Shame. I have a similar problem with BT when they reactivated my phone line. It was not working as they had given me a phone number/line that was in Shoreditch!

Hi Rick. I was due to switch to superfast on Friday too and had the same issue as you. Phone went off 9am and has still not come back on (we are switching from BT to Phone Co-op and have no promise of an engineer as yet - they don't answer call at the weekend...) Good luck and keep us posted!

I have used BT in the past and will never use BT again, the worst company for service and customer service, BT seems to be made up of different and separate companies, telephone, broadband etc, none of which communicate with one another who pass the buck between each other. It seems like when things go well they go well, but when a problem arises then things get really really bad. Good luck with BT.

Excellent.   I`ll maybe consider switching myself at some stage?

I have had superfast broadnow now for 5 days and my speed is now up to 35mb/s. Compared to the 15mb/s I was getting before, it is a vast improvement.

I am now up and running with superfast broadband too. Took them three visits but the engineers got there in the end! I'm getting about 75mb/s.

Wow.......that's fast!!!

I had Sky Broadband which at best gave me 10 mb/s. I called BT on 8 April. They were very professional, offered me Unlimited BT Infinity 1 for £10 a month. They sent the the new hub on 21st and the seamless changeover was on the 22nd. Currently getting around 42 mb/s. Couldn't be happier with their service

That sounds like an excellent deal!
