Middlesex Street Estate Open Meeting 22nd October 2014 Video

I attended your meeting of the 4th November. I noticed you had a similar problem to us! Residents saying they were told things that did not then happen. Here, you would be charged £15 a month to use the estate Leisure Centre. We had this happen so often, as they refused to minute the meeting, we encourage the City of London to change their policy and to video the meetings.

A direct example in this video, is us being told the cost of prospective estate Spots Centre to be £10.

Good idea having a video of meetings like this can you get the ones on our estate to be videod and uploaded too? more people that cannot attend could have more idea whats going on ?

Here is the policy allowing you to do it. Did they not tell you about it?

We are still encouraging them to allow Estate Walkabouts to be filmed.

Excellent idea, open, transparent, democratic, an accurate record of meetings for future reference, and for all the people who cannot attend meetings.

You request videoing, from Jacquie Campbell, a week before or earlier. Perhaps you should copy it here.

The very idea of these meetings is for people to attend and raise issues, and ask questions, and debate. They cannot do this by watching a video of the meeting.  It may give people the idea they don't have to be bothered to go, as they can just watch the video.  That way nobody might go!  And, who exactly is being videoed?  Every person, or just the Chair, for example?  And, what are done with these videos, and who watches them?  I am concerned they may end up on You Tube, seen by goodness knows who.  I feel very uncomfortable about this.

Your questions are mostly answered at the beginning of the thread, in the video.

Any resident not wishing their voice on the video, could submit written questions, before or at the meeting.

Non resident leaseholders also requested the video, probably why 70 have watched it.

May I also ask why, with all due respect, you are concerned about our meetings being videoed, when you are a resident of Middlesex Street, and not Golden Lane?  This, surely, would be a matter for our residents only to consider.

Some residents associations like to co-operate, especially  when they have the same landlord and council. Individuals contact MSERA directly, to discuss matters of concern to them.

You want or do not want filming, that is up to you. No reason for you not to hear about it.

To have the sort of atitude that if you are unable to attend such meetings you should be denied any sort of partisipation or information about Estate matters seems  to be undemocratic . How many people on the Estate are Housebound ? Work at the time of meetings ? Or for other personal reasons can not attend ? And i think you are being rude to the man from Middlesex Street who is only trying to be helpfull .

Andrew, I fully understand why residents' associations may want to communicate with each other, so maybe it would be helpful if you contacted the Committee on Golden Lane directly, to discuss any issues, in the first instance.

15 storeys high.  I am not being rude at all.  And, I never said that people should be denied any information on Estate matters.  If any one is unable to attend, there is always information that can be obtained from those Committee members who did attend.  If the residents on our Estate want these meetings to be filmed, it is entirely up to the majority to decide.  I was only expressing a personal opinion, for which I was entitled to do.  And, in order to make it easier for us to converse may I suggest you take the advice of the Admin here, and use your name.  I really like to know who I am talking to, and it makes it so much better for community relations.  Many thanks.
