Hi  Paul Lincoln kindly informed us that COLCEC - the building in Golden Lane immediately next to the Estate - is holding classes for 8 weeks starting 28th January at 10am.

I just went along to enrol and was told that it may not run as there are not enough people registered.  I thought I would just let you all know the situation in case anyone else is interested in joining - I think just 4 more people would be enough.  It would be such a shame to lose such a timely and relevant course that will include advice on effectively planning appropriate planting for the balconies and other areas for when the works are done.

I think you may find that people have not enrolled due to the high fee of £80.

Unfortunately, money is always a consideration and, indeed, lack of it has stopped me doing many things in life.  But, in case it is relevant to anyone, the concessionary fee for the whole 9 week course is £20.  I have the Course Brochure in front of me at the moment and it says that the concessionary rate is available to:

-over 60s and those in receipt of  - Employment and Support Allowance or Jobseeker's Allowance  - Income Support            - Working Tax Credit (household income less than £15,276)  - Housing or Council Tax Benefit/Support  - Universal Credit (conditions apply)

I should mention that I may have previously quoted the wrong time for the Thursday class.  The COLCEC Brochure says it is 12.30pm-2.30pm.  Hope it helps even 1 person.

What a pity but thanks for letting us know.
