I am an over 70s resident. I am thinking about the weeks to come and the planning for self isolation. I am already just staying very local, but still shopping at Waitrose, swimming, etc.

As this looks as if life is becoming  even more restricted starting this weekend.

The first thing that concerns me is the very loud noise and dirt of the huge amount of construction around us. I live in Hatfield and am being constantly bombarded with very loud noise from COLPAI as well as the same from the north from the current Sycamore House refurb.

I know to the south residents there are just as affected by the building of The Denizen.

I am wondering if during this CRISIS we can request shorter hours as I cannot even eat my lunch on my balcony as it is far too disruptive and unacceptable.

If we are due to stay in our flats we need to have fresh air. I have found it for about 18 months now, impossible to even have the windows open for more than a few minutes.

I think that if this delays the end dates of these projects, surely  it is worth it for the public health good?

That is my view, anyway.

Hi Nancy,

It's a nightmare from both sites, isn't it?!

It was confirmed last week that COLPAI secretly switched off noise monitoring from Hatfield House after the piling stopped.

The Health & Safety officer for Islington Council, Anthony Baptiste, has told us that he will look into getting this reinstated if there are further complaints from Hatfield residents.

So please do email Mr. Baptiste to complain about the volume of noise, lack of observance of the 10-12 and 2-4 reduced impact hours, and request noise monitoring be switched back on.

Example of 90db noise just metres from our window (during those so-called reduced impact hours) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQzirhce_Ic

I know Charles Humphries was finally given an opportunity to meet with the acoustician this afternoon at 3pm. Hopefully now, especially in this time of crisis, we can get a better and more considerate approach from the builders.
