Event Description

All residents are invited to the GLERA AGM

Saturday 18 June @ 2 pm in the Community Centre

Come along and meet your neighbours and elect the GLERA committee for the coming year.

GLERA is the official vehicle for making representations to the City on behalf of residents. Under the GLERA umbrella the committee has:

  • Engaged with the City over the windows replacement/refurbishment programme and other major works
  • Liaised with the residents’ associations in the Barbican and Middlesex Street to present a united front to the City
  • Had discussions with the City about adjusting everyone’s service charges to reflect changes on the Estate
  • Had discussions with the City about rewriting leaseholder’s leases to reflect changes on the Estate
  • Arranged the hustings for the Council elections

GLERA is also able to apply for grants for resident lead projects. There's been success with:

  • City of London Stronger Communities grant of £2,900 which funded the Summer Picnic along with the Christmas Sing Out Again, Father Christmas and refreshments
  • A grant of £50,000 from the City of London Community Infrastructure Fund to encourage cycling; refurbish existing bike sheds; add new public bicycle racks and create a set of safe and secure places for cycle storage on the Estate

AGENDA

  • Chair’s report on the activities for the year
  • Treasurer’s report on the accounts and a vote on their approval
  • Votes for the new committee
  • Reports and discussions on any other issues (see resident spot survey below)

We will be electing Chair / Secretary (paid position) / Treasurerand Committee members. If you would like to join the Committee then please send an email to chair.glera@gmail.com
