"The link takes me to a Word doc I think then nothing. I think it’s appalling that the City thinks so little of its residents. It’s time the business vote was abolished."

Money for Repairs

On the 13th January there was a full City Council meeting where Sue Pearson, your local Common Councillor, proposed a motion that the repairs programme for all the City Estates be accelerated by using some of the City’s financial reserves. The repairs programme is moving incredibly slowly even by the City’s standards with the last 5 year plan being inadequately funded while the Estates decay and tenants live in unacceptable conditions. The City has a fund called City Cash which has reserves of £2.6 billion. They have dedicated £50 million of this money to support small business during the pandemic but nothing to support residents. £37 million of this money has not been spent and Sue suggested that, as a start, it might be a good idea to redirect this to Estate repairs. At the Council meeting discussion of the motion was cut short by a point of order and the the motion to speed up repair of your Estates was lost by 75 votes to 19. I may have missed something but what is with the noisy drilling which is happening now at 22.10pm on Golden lane. Guys in vans have been out there for ages but started drilling or whatever it is they are doing at this time of night.

Hello Shane

If it's emergency repairs probably nothing we can do but you could try calling City of London Noise Nuisance: 020 7606 3030. More phone numbers are on the Estate office page http://www.goldenlaneestate.org/page/estate-office

It was a power company. They were outside in their vans for ages then proceeded to start the digging or whatever it was at 10pm. They finished at 3.50am. plenty of noise and laughter to keep me awake all night. Up at 5 for work so not too impressed to be honest

That's outrageous... you probably haven't got the energy to but you should complain - there's got to be a code of conduct for late working.

It was Uk Power networks. I have a friend who phoned them but they didn't say if it was to do with COLPAI or not but I'm pretty sure it was. I've emailed them but all a bit late now.
