City of London

We all know when something isn't quite right, we take a second look and can't quite decide if the police would be interested. Well the City of London Police are interested in anything that you think may be suspicious.

Working together we can all ensure that the City remains the safest place to live and work in the UK.

Last week an eagle eyed member of the community noticed two people interfering with one of the TfL cycle racks. He watched them break the lock and then try to hide the cycle whilst they went back to steal a second bike. He phoned the City Police immediately, gave a good description and the two suspects were promptly arrested.

CCTV suggests sometimes people ignore things that seem obviously wrong - possibly because they may be fearful of how the police will react to their call.

The City of London Police recognise that our community are key in providing additional 'eyes and ears' on the streets of the City. Everyone in the community is key in helping the police to identify and solve crime. If you see something that you think the Police should investigate further then contact the City of London Police switchboard on (020) 7601 2222. If it is an emergency or a crime is being committed then dial 999.

As soon as the City Police are made aware of any incident, they will be able direct their CCTV system to confirm any suspicions and send police resources to investigate further. It may well be that there is an innocent explanation for someone's behaviour - that's not a problem for the City Police - we would rather you call us and let us clarify the situation. If you wish to remain anonymous when calling, then that will be respected.

Please see the comments in this forum about unnecessary police signage.

Why is the estate littered with these signs?
