Event Description

Join Arts Society lecturer Val Woodgate as she shows how, in the face of strict official censorship, artists with direct experience of the war depicted the conflict in powerful and often deeply moving works of art, and how, in the years following the Armistice, each side attempted to come to terms with the aftermath of war. Poets, uncensored, were free to write of the war in a way which takes us to the heart of the suffering and disillusion of the men who were fighting alongside them.
