I live on the top floor of Crescent House, very close to the top floor guest flats.  I enjoy gardening in that area, and have created a little 'garden' for all to enjoy.  I have pleasure in meeting many people, some from abroad, who stay in these guest flats.  What is sad is that the two lower floors have not one bit of greenery, or anything, for those guests to see when staying.  I fully understand that not everyone is in a position to do gardening etc.  However, considering, especially how the City of London have increased the charges for the guest flats, some effort should be made by them, at least, to improve the appearance of these areas.  They look so bleak, and it can hardly create a good impression of part of the Estate to our visitors.

I wonder if there is anyone in particular I could approach about this, if anyone has any views on this!

Hi Christine.  I had hoped when we had all the discussions about adding more greenery to dull parts of the Estate, which Jonny Hazell was involved with, I thought things may improve.  However, the only outcome to that was a large pot plant added to the entrance of Great Arthur House!  I was told by the Estate office that that was all the budget covered for!!

I don't think that's good enough.  The City are making a lot of money out of the guest flats, and run it like a 'business', so they should make the effort to improve the overall appearance of the area.  Not so long ago, on the 2nd floor there were some empty planters, that were filled with cigarette butts!  Hardly a good advert!  I managed to get this cleared away.

I will look into this further, and see what may be done.

Many thanks, and yes, you must come up soon and have a drink with me, outside when we have really good weather. XXXX
