The appalling riots around the country are terrible. I hope folk living here feel safe. We are a strong community here and must work together to ensure all our neighbours are OK.

Clare Carolin  of Bowater said this much better than I can.

Just wanted to say how upset and disgusted I am by the attacks on immigrant communities, minorities and the police that have been happening around the UK over the past few days. I hope that all my neighbours are feeling safe and welcome ♥️ in EC1 at the very least.

I totally agree that there is no excuse from any group for such violence. It is terrible.  In recent months many Jewish people have felt under threat from some extremists, although this seems not to be addressed as urgent. Every law abiding citizen must be respected.   We, as a nation are very welcoming in general to immigrants who come here that contribute richly to our country.  This has been going back many years to the amazing Huguenots and even before.  I know several neighbours who I value highly who have come here from other countries.  Unfortunately, there are also migrants who come here illegally, and whom have no intention of contributing to our society. Nor do we know who they are.  Many people are genuinely worried about this.  This also needs to be addressed, but in a proper manner.  I love our country, as we all do.

I think this kind of rhetoric shouldn’t be posted on here. Regardless of who attacks who, we know enough what is going on, other groups blaming other groups regardless of ethnicity. Everyone has a right to be safe. Please do not single out any one group, as this is tantamount to what the media is doing and highlighting one particular demographic. There is good and bad in everyone. Please if you have to comment on such topics, please refrain from singular finger pointing.

The original post put the blame  on one particular group.  I agree that no one group should be singled out, which is why I attempted to re address the balance in a diplomatic way.  Yes, everyone has the right to be safe.  I only hope the government sees the wider issues of the public concerns and listen to them instead of ignoring it.
