Some of you may have already heard that the City of London Corporation is consulting with its Common Councillors and Alderman as to whether there should be some payment to these Members. It is a difficult issue with arguments on both sides. Most other authorities do make some payment. Without wishing to prejudice the debate with my own views, I want to ask for your comments. Also included in the consultation is a request for views on moving meeting times (currently held during office hours).
I would very much welcome your views either posted here or sent to me at mary.durcan@cityoflondon.gov.uk

Thank you.

I'm not sure about expenses - given that there are perks available to CC's which aren't available to other local authority members.

Think meetings held out of office hours a step forward though.
